The Flea Feast

WALT use inferring skills to identify the main ideas in the text.
                        

Flea Feast

The flea:
I wish that I could always lead this life
of mindless sucking greed I love to nip
and leap about and hair my victims bark
and shout.

The dog:
All those pills and sprays and powder make
me bark just that much louder.My owner thinks
he’s won the war cause I'm not scratching any
more.

The boy:
Tonight I’ll move him from the shed And let
him sleep by my bed.

The flea:
I knew,if I stayed still and quiet,that I could have
a change of diet.

A) Who are the "victims" the flea talks about in the first verse? The dog and the boy

B) When the dog says, "My owner thinks he's won the war", what war is he talking about? He's not scratching any-more

C) In the second verse the dog says, "I'm not scratching any more". Why isn't he scratching any more? He thinks the fleas gone so he says he's won the war.

D) What is the most likely reason that the dog had to sleep in the shed? Because he was barking a lot

E) What made the boy decide to let the dog sleep beside his bed? Because the dog barks at the fleas

F) In the last verse the flea talks about having a "change of diet". Who will probably be the flea's new victim? The boy

This week for reading I read a poem and I had to use my inferring skills to understand what the poem was about. Inferring means means reading between the lines and using the clues from the text to understand what the author is implying. Kia orana my name is Ngatokurua I'm 12 years old and I go to Tamaki Primary School. I’m not

that tall but i’m taller than some of my friends.not all of them and it’s kind of cool .I have Beautiful bright shiny straight hair like beyonce but her one is curly.I have cool sparkly eyes like the stars,I'm loving because I love my family, I'm respectful because I listen to my mum,sometimes silly(at home and school) funny (At school),I have beautiful olive shiny skin.

I have two fabulous sisters named Jadaleigh and Bella and two handsome brothers named Little - Man/David and Levi.I am the second oldest,its cool for me because I’m responsible for my younger brother and sisters.I have a stunning mum named Jackie and a handsome dad named David. I love my family so much because they support me my brothers and sisters all the time.

I come from a beautiful clean community named Tamaki. Theres a few beaches around  Tamaki I'm so lucky that I have talented  friends like,Destiny,Faith,Timothy,Tim,Edward,Unique,Salome,Loni,Caprice,Johnny,Mavis,Harmony,

My favourite sport is Rugby because my Grandad George taught me how to rip the Rugby ball out of peoples hands I'm interesting at  .My Nana also taught me how to play as well. I Am A Cook Island and I can’t wait to go to the Cook Islands at the end of the year.I can’t really speak Cook Island but can sometimes understand the language I am a Maori I'm not fluent.My favourite hobbies is playing with my friends and going to the pools/beach in the weekends,I sometimes  stay at my friends house or they stay at my house.

My hopes for 2013 at Tamaki primary School is to use descriptive language in my work,using inferring skills,reading between the lines,more descriptions in my story my fears for 2013 is that I won’t get high grades in my work,Playing games during class time,getting distracted,

My Independent Research

Net book Reflection 2012

It was cool getting our net books at the beginning of the year. I like doing my work on my net book instead of a book. I can write a lot and faster and my hand doesn't get sore. I really like writing and sharing it on my blog. 

I also like reading and researching to help my learning. This year we learnt about gardening and compost. I was able to find lots of good information to help me make compost and we planted maori potatoes. 

Sometimes the Internet is slow and I get the 'trying to reach Google' message, it makes me disappointed.

I'd like to learn more languages next year. We will be learning Spanish. I'm going to go on Google Translate and learn some Spanish greetings.

Blogging About Taekwon Do

• The 1st was easy
• The 2nd one was kinda easy
• Then we wanted to break 2 boards together
• We broke 2 different boards  

When we had to break a board I didn't want to do
it because I was shy.All of my friends said come on do it please.I thought to myself i'm gonna do it and I did. I did it for all my friends who encouraged me. It took me like one go and it broke it half.

Minette said ‘’If you guys want to break 2 boards then make a line.’’It was a long line because everyone wanted to break 2 boards. When it was my turn it took me 3 kicks and then it broke in half. It was cool because we all had a turn kicking the board.I never gave up because I was kicking the board and it was fun.


At the end Minette ‘’asked’’ us if  we had any  questions. It took five minutes for us to ask her questions and discuss things about Taekwon Do. In 8 weeks in Taekwon Do we learned a whole lot of kicks and punches to defend ourselves.
